The first type of cover is image-based. These sell really well and are usually fashion and travel magazines. it usually consists of one person or a few people looking at the camera. The photography has to correspond with the style of the publication. The second type is illustration based covers. These were mainly used in the 20s and 30s when magazine publishing started to kick off. today not many covers look like these. The next style is type-based magazines. These are used to show power through words. the last type is concept based. These are a mix of all three but are used to show powerful messages. Type can sometimes convey words better than photos and convey messages strongly.
